Railway Maintaince for Design and Projects

Design & Projects Int Ltd execute turnkey contracts for railway maintenance facilities. When a facility in Wolverhampton was extended for Midland Traincare, D & P contacted Gallagher’s to assist with the finish and safety aspects of the new site. This large 2,000 square metre specialist maintenance site had a bogey changing pit, preparation and spray booths and with capacity to service an eight-carriage main line train.

The access pit floors required an anti-slip epoxy finish to protect personnel from slippages as excess water ran off the trains. We completed the walls in a flexible water based masonry paint to provide durability and performance in a bright reflective finish.

The main floors were prepared by enclosed vacuum blast tracking to remove the laitance in the new concrete, providing a slight profile to the surface to guarantee adhesion. The client specified an international corporate colour scheme, which was manufactured in a high build epoxy resin coating system.

Health and safety issues around the pits were resolved by our specialist pit lining completed in a high performing epoxy resin lining system. Hazard identification, fire points and localised anti-slip finishes provided the perfect solution.

The safety of the site was a high priority, as our works progressed whilst the existing facility continued operational. Jason Thorne, the site agent for the works, appreciated how Gallagher’s staff co-operated with other trades and Midland Traincare staff, on what was a very busy site, to a tight time constraint. He commented afterwards “I would recommend Gallagher’s services - excellent service and attitude of all staff!”
